I popped in to the TA tonight to see if anyone needed help.
One guy spoke up (name withheld). He was trying to load a squad logo bitmap.
The conversation went something like this:
"what size does the squad logo have to be?"
"To the best of my memory, it has to be a 64*64 bitmap"
"OK, how do I make it that size?"
"Well, if you have a program like Paint Shop Pro, you can resize from the 'Image' menu".
"OK thanks, I've been using that all afternoon, but there's no 'resize' option"
"Yes there is, PSP definitely has the resize option"
"No it doesnt"
"YES it does!"
"How do I know if I have Paint Shop Pro?"
"Well, if you start the program, and the entry screen says 'Paint Shop Pro' there's a fair chance you HAVE Paint Shop Pro'
"It says 'Paint'".
"OK, then you have MSPaint.. you can resize from the 'image'/'attributes' option"
"I tried that but it cut off half my picture"
"Well you have to make sure your original picture is square to start with, so that when you resize to 64*64 your whole image is retained. Is the image square?"
"It is in the corners"
"What do you mean, in the corners?"
"Well, each corner is square".
"I mean, is the original IMAGE a square, you know, 4 equal sides, each corner a right angle?"
"What is a right angle?"
Honestly, I LOVE to train... but sometimes its enough to make you cry!
