that is a hard one.... i fly many types in this game....

Ones that stand out, 110G-2, 109F-4, Spitfire V, P47D-11, Tempest, F6F ....

Don't think anything comes quite close enough to dislodge the Hurricane IIC though.  Learned the game in that plane, and still love it.

It was a close call for me Halo. I will say that the Yak-9U is the plane I will most likely fly. It has enough speed to get out of trouble, but can fight off La-7s 1v1 fairly effectively.  I feel that the flight performance of the Yak-9 makes it one of the best in the arena. The gunload out and ammo will keep most people away from it though, which is fine with me.

However, there is NOTHING I enjoy more than getting those 1 ping kills with the Hammergun. Ok, there is this ONE thing that is better. It only seems to happen to La-7s, or maybe that's the only time I notice it. If you land a 37mm on an La-7, sometimes you will see the hit sprite, but the plane will not be effected. Then about 2 seconds later the plane just explodes. uhhhhhh man that's nice... Um... excuse me, I have to have some alone time.

My personal Favorite is the Spitfire V and 14. Basically because when I was 10 years old I was living near the old RAF Chivenor Airbase in North Devon. Also which is near the old Royal Marines Training Base, (Fremington).

So close its hard to call, but the Yak has to be first and the Tony right behind it.  They both have bad reps with alot of players, people think they are very slow (because they dont stay in it long enough to see how fast it can really go).  Gives you a good surprise edge in a fight when you chase down a P-51D that isnt trying too hard to get away becuase that Yak doesnt worry him.  Hehe.  Even the occasional newb in a La-7 can be run down by a Yak if you pay attention to your E.

The Ki-61 (IMO) is like a combination of a P-40E and the Bf109 E.  The acceleration stinks, but if you keep gathering in that energy, it has a decent speed and handles beautifully in a dive.  If you treat it right, it will whisper things to you while you are flying it to help get the most out of it.  

The only thing that would have made the F-4 better would have been 13mm MGs instead of the little BB's.  I love the centrally located guns, the way it handles, the acceleration............

Now, if I could have a Ki-61 that accelerates and climbs like a 109 F-4................
