Late war planes...Me410?

It seems to me that the late war era is getting fleshed out before going toward earlier aircraft.

So, anybody wanthis guy?

I realise that this plane might not be overly usefull till the AAA is reworked, but I think that is going to be fixed soon.  Deflection shooting ought to be easy with no nosecone in the way.

This plane, plus

La-7 (easy enough since we have the La-5)
Typhoon
190-D
Ki-100

Anybody else know of a great late war Japanese fighter?

Hans.

I dunno, Me 410 is kind of like a Mosquito with several thousand pounds of ballast.

It's surprisingly similar to a Do-335 with respect to weight, wing area and power, only it's about 80 mph slower!

P.S.  ...and uglier

Hans, Ki-84 was the best performing late-war Japanese fighter.  ON PAPER.

In the field it had terrible reliability problems.  Both the airframe and the engine were subject to wide variations in quality.  Some of them were fast, but in general the more reliable Ki-44 performed just as well.

The Ki-100 was not bad, but never made it into full production.

Ki-61 was a nice fighter as well, but had chronic engine problems.

The Navy had the Shiden-Kai (N1K2) and the Raiden.

Another thing, the most common Luftwaffe fighter bomber by far was the...

Fw 190

Look for more variants coming soon to an HDD near you.  (my guess)

Actually the Me410 is more of a midwar plane, and was withdrawn from "fighter/destroyer" duties in mid-44 due to heavy losses.

The 410 has two things going for it. Firepower and decent top speed (392 mph, good for a midwar variant).

It has a high wing loading about 45 lbs/sq ft, so it isn't going to win any agility awards.

Overall, I think it would make a good addition to the planeset, for buff busting and jabo work. With all the refit kits available, it would be quite versatile from bomber to destroyer.
