Kev or Oboe

I've been saving this for sure 80th P38G as my 'Ace in the hole" so to speak if I ever got close to as good as you guys, but that's just not gonna happen and to be honest I'm happier doing the research and watching you gents show your stuff.

You guys do some great stuff and far beyond where I'm going to get so I'm wondering if one of you guys would be willing to take on this for sure it's a G model of the Headhunters?

It's the mount of Headhunter Ace John Jones.

He's the guy in the bottom photo.  Note the scoreboard on the right side for the aircraft itself behind him.

It's interesting that the pilot name and scoreboard are on the right side on this  one too.

You can see differences in the paint over the course of the aircraft's service llife in the photos.  I believe the profile to be accurate.

Of course you know the first question from either of us is -
Do you have scans etc of the noseart?
Can't find anything on the net.

Draw the nose art using the pictures :) or scan the nose art - blow it up - color it-  shrink it to fit

IF you are willing to take a crack at it, I'll figure out how to come up with the nose art.

there's 2 pictures above :) Wouold just need a higher res scan of the nose art area. I've done it before and it works out alright -

I've got my hands full for a bit, but if you have some high res scans (600dpi) of the "art" only area, I might be able to take a whack at em later.

Nother thing would be able to see if you could find an image of the photo the nose art was based off -Frances Rafferty.

No go on Frances Rafferty.  I've been hunting for a while and tried that :)

I've been keeping this one in reserve in case we get the 'can't do Fs or Hs" call from Pyro.  Since Kev and Oboe did such great work on the 80th J and L, I figured it was time to throw it out there to complete the Headhunter's Triliogy :)

I'll see if I can scan them more hi res.  It doesn't tend to turn out too well from the book images.

I'm happy Waffle stepped in here.   That would make 80th FS 38s from 5 different skinners: myself, Kev, Dan, thebest1, and Waffle.

I've done 2 Js and 2 Ls now, and that seems like enough.   Though I'm watching closely to make sure the ETO/MTO will be properly represented - 3 out of my 4 are from the Pacific Theater.    We should make sure we have enough late war ETO 38 skins for TOD when it gets here.    Not sure if the 38L was used in the ETO though.

I can take the 38G I am doing and make it an 80th instead.
Just need the noseart.

I'll just do new weathering layers for my current one.

Still working the nose art bit.  Also keep in mind the bar to the star and bar was just white.  No outline.  And the other suggestion is to note how the camo on the cockpit pod came back just under the wing leading edge.  I'll try and find a photo tho show you what I mean.

Looks great though Kev and with those other two Headhunters, it's gonna be fun to fly em.

OK changed the stars, unsure what you mean about the camo on the pod.
