Pyro, icon question
« on: February 19, 2005, 03:29:27 PM »
What was the reason for changing them from the system in place? I didn't really see this begged for as a feature, so I'm confused as to the change. I'm not trying to whine, I'd just like to see the other side of the coin. (also, is this something that is permanent or are you guys just trying it out to see what the response will be)

I'm obviously not a fan but I'm level headed enough to not scream like a baby about it. Just confused, thats all

Im not HT but I play him on TV

One of the big issues with the old icon system was that it gave the same information at 2 miles away that it did at 100 feet.  It didnt make any sense.  You can for example tell (provided your up on such things) what style a car is from quite a distance...but you cant tell the LS from the GT until you get closer.  Thats the idea here, to make it possible to still tell the diferent planes apart, but not from ridiculous ranges.

This is also in part (I assume) because the new skins system is making things much harder.  In RL you had certain squads with certain skins at certain time in certain areas....in the MA we get everything all at once, and it can be overwelming when you have 20 skins x 50 plane types :D

hmm, allright

not exactly what i was hoping for, but i'm sure i'll adjust

i'd like to see plane usage #s after this tour, that's where the difference will be. unless you begin to put perk costs on all late war planes, you won't be seeing anywhere near as many early war rides. i guess the one plus to this new system is that it would make introducing low perk costs to the most heavily used planes (aka late war) a lot more viable. even so, i still cant help but feel that with all the strides forward in immersion AH2 has made this has been one backwards.

Perhaps it is a preliminary implementation before the late-war planes are perked.

 Maybe a good omen! :D

 Muhahahahahaha
