It appears to be a 3500+ reporting itself as a 3400+.  The voltage is off a bit, but that could be the motherboard, so no real problem there.
Take a look at the AMD roadmap from Anandtech http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets/showdoc.aspx?i=2303
You can see that AMD has no 3400+ 939 chips in the past, present or future.  Neither Anandtech, Tom's Hardware, [H]OCP, Sharky Extreme, Hexus nor etc. have ever tested a 3400+ 939 because it doesn't exist.  If you don't believe any of this so far, go try to buy this cpu....I doubt you'll find one.
About 2 years ago, AMD and Newegg were having a spat because Newegg was selling the 3200 XP weeks before it offiially shipped to market, so I know Newegg has vast connections with vendors and will occasionally cross the line.  On the good side, Newegg keeps great sales records, so if you run into a problem, I'm sure they would back the product no questions asked.
Where this cpu came from...why is it renamed a 3400+...who's benefiting from the sales...?  I have no clue.  Would I recommend getting involved with the TigerDirect deal?.....No, probably not.
To buy an unauthorized cpu with the 130nm process and the A8V to save less than $100 is a crapshoot at best.  First, you have to "front " $380 and then wait and hope you get your $100 rebate to bring your grand total to $280.
I'd recommend getting the 3200+ 90nm Winchester (with a reputation for great overclocking headroom) and the Abit AV8 for a grand total of $278 (Pricewatch - many vendors).  It'll run cooler and match the 3500+ (3400+) with just a mild overclock AND YA GOT $2 TO BUY A BEER WHILE YA ASSEMBLE YOUR NEW SYSTEM.
OK, I made myself thirsty....

To Eagler:  I want to thank you for taking the time and posting that CPU-Z report.  Its visual proof that you do indeed have a 3400+ 939.  Personally, I think you did OK.
much appreciated

Strange, just CPU-Z my 3500

Everything is exactly the same down to the speeds, stepping etc.
Only 1 difference - mine reports itself as a 3500.

Seems as thoguh there 'may' be some s939 3400's going around running at 3500's speeds.
Or is that 3500's going around reporting themselves as 3400's?

Who knows, as long as it works.

Eagler........go to this site and bookmark

http://www.ocforums.com/

You'll be able to see what other people are doing with the 3500+ and the A8V....lots of info.  Same for memory and power supplies.

The 3400+ is an OEM. Here is info from AMD :

Thank you for contacting AMD's Technical Service Center.

Please keep in mind that the Athlon 64 3400+ 939-pin processors are
available in OEM versions only. So warranty coverage for the Athlon 64
3400+ 939-pin processors must be directed to the vendor where you
purchase this from and not with AMD.

Unfortunately, we currently do not have any technical specifications
for this processor available online for you to view. Please do be
aware, however, that the Athlon 64 3400+ 939-pin processor has
technical specifications very similar to that of the Athlon 64 3500+
939-pin processor. The only exception would be the fact that the
HyperTransport Link speed for the 3400+ is limited to 800MHz as opposed
to the 3500+ speed of 1GHz.

I have included a link to view further details on the specifications
for the 3500+ for your reference.

Hope this helps. If you have any other questions, please feel free to
contact me.

Even funnier Intels next offering will set records for Wattage and heat produced. Maybe it will come will a set of oven gloves and a mini refridgerator to put the whole system in.

I am not a tigerdirect fanboy but waited till I got back my 100 rebate before answering this. In Jan I oredered the A7V and 3400+ 939 from tigerdirect and submitted the rebate forms. I received the $100 rebate yesterday (within the 4-6wk promised time). So I am one happy camper and the new machine really rocks (after figuring out how to setup the A8V)

Summer was 6months away - they were selling a 3400+ 939 A64 with an A8V deluxe MB, heatsink, fan, case, keyboard and cheap speakers for 299 (after 100 rebate) was a really good deal.

Now if I waited till summer for dual core then I may just be tempted to wait for winter when the next big thing comes out :-).
