wow. It's amazing what these soldiers are going through overseas at the moment. I have 2 close friends from High School that are, 1 in Iraq, and 1 in Afghanistan. I hope they are alright. I am not a service vet of any type except CAP but no veternacy involved in that really. But i must say Things like this that I see on TV and these rare pictures and write ups about the troops over there, make me think. Damn I am proud to be an American. Not everyday you see people give a crap lessa bout the conflict in iraq or Afghanistan. I you for bringing this news to us and a BIG to the GI's Overseas.

Just FYI Ack-Ack, its not the Congressional Medal of Honor, its simply Medal of Honor. :)

Ok let me explain elfie.

First of all I think he looks a bit like Tom Berenger in the movie.

Second when I saw that picture I recalled a scene in the movie where Charlie Sheen was talking to his squadmates about Barnes..

And the guy said something like this: The only thing that can kill sarge is sarge. If you try to shoot him he'll send the bullet right back with a candle on it.

Congress established it in 1862... and IIRC, the words "The Congress to" are printed on the back.

I've seen the movie Siaf, I understood what you were saying and it made me laugh real hard (something I needed after our 18 month old spent 9 hours in the emergency room last night because of some nasty virus) :)

It also has to be approved by Congress iirc, the actual name of the medal is *Medal of Honor* not Congressional Medal of Honor.

Actually both are accepted as correct.

Elfie,

Either is correct way to describe the award. When I was first going through training it was described to me as the CMH. Either way you want to call it, the men that earned it are the ones to be concerned about. Heroes of the truest sense. Those men, irregardless of rank, deserve a slaute from anyone in the military.

!! to that 1st Sgt. I hope he recovers fully and can return the life he obviously loves. I also hope he is recognized for his actions, it certainly sounds like the MoH (or CMH :p )is appropriate.:

Wasn't it a line from "Courage Under Fire"? I seem to recall Denzel going on about how it's the MOH, not the CMOH.

Maybe....


When I was in the USAF, more than once I was *corrected* by superiors on the correct name of the Medal of Honor, thats where I got the impression that adding Congressional to it was inappropriate.
