Tank Town Question
« on: February 20, 2005, 06:03:04 PM »
I’m just curious to see how the general population of players feels about Tank Town. I posted this question for the GVer who when he or she logs on and tries to go to Tank Town – they can’t because some country broomed everyone out. Tank Town is like a holy shrine for die hard GVers. When I first started playing I hated Ground Vehicles. Now I enjoy them just as much if not more than flying. Spawn Camping gets old and what I really enjoy are field kills, playing that tactical chess game / search and destroy against the likes of ELK, LOONY, TALONX, and WONDER to name a few. My busy work schedule (and my wife - hehe) does not allow me the privilege to play as much as I want. When a small map is up sometimes ground vehicle conflicts do not present themselves for awhile. On larger maps if “Tank Town” gets overrun by one country it tends to spoil the fun for everyone. Sometimes a couple of days go by before I can hop back into a panzer. With that in mind, here is a hypothetical question – What if on large maps only (I realize it would effect reset on small maps) - Tank Town was off limits to capture and at the same token did not count for reset. No outside spawns would be available to get to it therefore they would impose no strategic threat to the remainder of the map. Before you beat me up – all you “All business players, the game is real” – I play for FUN first. I always have, I always will. This topic has been coming up a lot lately during game play. I thought it would be interesting to see what the BBS has to say.

EN4CER,

Do you think there is a big enough base of interested people to hold maybe a weekly GV only mini event?  There is a regular squad ops, KOTH etc, and I think a regular  ground war would be fun, if enough people even want to bother with it.

Toss it around with some friends, and see if it's something to pursue, I'd carry it to the CM team and host if needed.

I could see a 2 country fight over a "neutral" base, who ever owns it at end frame wins type of thing.

Nothing clever here.  Please, move along.

I just have to say as a big gv'er myself. The mountains around tank town should be a 50 k high wall with no entrance for plane's or bombers what so ever.  And each gv base should have at least 4 spawns into the center making it almost impossible to camp them all.
No offense but the knight's always have to be the spoilers.  Bringing bomber after bomber into tank town. Along with the occasional 110 or 38.  Since we've been on this map it has been a constant flow of bombers and jabo's to the center. Only for it to take them 4 days to capture 134. I hope you did a big happy dance when you got it.
Am I whining? Probably. But the important thing is I'm telling the truth.
So yes I would like the idea of them not counting towards the reset and making them unabled to be captured.  But I would also like to see it as a no fly zone. Or at least a no ord zone.

I'm a bish and today I was disapointed to see that our one sole base was taken over in "tank town".

I mean jeez, 1 base and it couldn't be left alone?

To paraphrase the immortal words of the boys from Delta House.....BULLPUCKY!. Try flying in the other countries...you will find that each country has an ample supply of dweebs that are willing to climb the 18k+ to haul bombs into TT.

As to the point of the original post, due to the way the reset system is designed, uncapturable fields are not an option. Now, if at some point HT decides to change the reset system.....
