that type of paint hurts your glide ratio & acceleration much more than you would expect

You get used to the Ki84 gauges quickly. The only two you really need to watch in it are the alt and speed gauges.  The forward framing stinks, and it can be tricky taking snapshots.  Rear view is excellent though, and the plane has truly superb performance. Get used to the gauges, start roping newbs, and you're golden. :)

we could use more Japanese planes of all types.  certainly Japan fielded some fine aircraft and they would add greater depth to the game.

Aside from the typcial rubish...

I would agree about the Ki-61/Ki-100 being different enough to justify the modeling. But the Ki-100 wasn't available until 1945... it's essentailly a late war fighter with Mid war performance.

In some of my crappy references, the Ki-100 A1 has a worse climb time to 5000 meters than the Ki-61-1b (and I have no idea how accurate these designations are). I don't know how they would relate to the Ki-61 we have (though I wouldn't be surprised if they had better low alt climb).

I guess what I'm saying is that, especially for events and the CT, the Ki-100 won't really add much, since the Ki-84 and N1k2 will generally be available whenever the Ki-100 is, and they perform. From what I can tell from Gunston and other mediocre references, it might have an edge in service ceiling (and maybe high alt performance?). That might be worth something in a "Defense of the Home Islands" type of scenario.

With that said, I think that the J2M, A6M3 and Ki-43 would be a bit more usefull.

And of course... JUDY JUDY JUDY

Now it really IS over-modelled.  To attain that level of kit building and resort to dry-brushing technique for weathering is just sad.  It's a damn fine model though, short of the the dry-brushing.
