Still getting lock ups
« on: February 19, 2005, 03:20:07 PM »
With screeching sound, locks up and freezes comp.
Twice tonight each time i had map open and right clicked for menu to check field strat.
Once i was able to view field strat for about 20 secs next time it locked before i even clicked the menu to select field number.

Another lock this time map made it half open then froze.

If I am alone in this i shall have to assume its something my end.

I do also get some lockups where I have to press the reset button to get out.

Hey I thought Microsoft XP prohibits one failing application to kill the pc, but I guess that will be true when pigs fly :lol

Its not as frequent as before patch 3, and I dont get a sound loop either.

Dont know if its related to TIR or not.

Yesterday I played for several hours, and got one lockup, today I played 10 min and got the lock up :(

5 sorties with no problems.

Then in the 6 sortie, after 3min of 1v1 in MA ends with my pc hanging. No sound loop from vox, just game freezes up, and its game over for me again

Any one else have this problem?

Every time I've had such an issue with lockups its been either poor choices on my part in my video settings or a driver issue.  Drivers sometimes can get corrupted without doing anything.  Run the Direct X Diagnostic utility and run all the video and sound tests, make sure it passes.  Then try either posting the first 1/3 or so of it here or send the report to Skuzzy (if you havent done this already).

Might try to uninstall your video drivers and reinstall,  make sure you have the latest drivers for your video card.

Mine seems cured no locks today. I had previously uninstalled and reinstalled my Audigy drivers , no help.

This time i went as far as uninstalling them.
Shutting down , physically removing the sound card and restarting windows with no sound.
Going into system hardware and removing anything left over that was remotely connected with SB.
Refitting Audigy card, refitting drivers (basic only) and so far it seems ok.

Think it all got screwed when my psu thermal switch turned comp off while playing AH, obviously need to get the jigsaw etc out on the case.

Relax Stone, I'm sure it'll work out.

I have freezes as well. Mine doesn't crash the game but everything freezes for 5-10 seconds, then back to normal. After a freeze there is never another, so when the freeze has happened I know I can relax ;)

I've tried with texture and skin preload on and off. I run the game with 1024 textures.
