Turning the Tide
American Ninth Air Force vs The German Air Force

In December of 1943, Dwight D. Eisenhower was chosen to be the Supreme Commander of the allied invasion of France during the Cairo Conference. A massive transfer of men and material was already in progress, moving forces from the Mediterranean to Europe. As part of this re-alignment Major General Lewis Brereton moved his Ninth Air Force headquarters from Cairo to Sunninghill, England.

With the Ninth in England and the Eighth preparing to transition their P38s and P47s for the new P-51s the USAAF was on the verge of being in a position to fly escorted bomber missions all the way to Berlin, turning the tide of the air war in Europe in favor of the Allies.

Adolph was not amused.

Ninth Air Force Aircraft:
P-47D-11
P-38J
P-51B
B-26B

Ninth Air Force Active Fields:
A12, A13

German Air Force Aircraft:
Me-109 G6
Me-110 G2
Fw-190 A5
Ju-88 A4

German Active Airfields:
A47, A49

Arena Settings:
Map - BigBoB
- Fuel 1.5
- Icons short
- .51 Ack
- Fighter and Bomber warning range 42,000 (about 8 miles)
- Tower range set to 42,000 (for display only to match the above setting)
- Clouds / visibility (10 miles)
- Radar off
- Friendly collisions off
- Kill shooter off
- Ground winds from the SE @10 kts to 5,000 ft
- Time: 9 AM

Scoring:
Single Engine Fighters - 10 points
Twin Engine Fighters - 15 points
Twin Engine Bombers - 20 points

Hangers - 200 points
Other ground targets on the hit list other than ack - 50 points
Ack - 5 points

ONLY targets on the list will count for points.  If you bomb a field that's NOT on the list it will not have any effect on points scored.

Designer Notes:
1. Air fields in England will be Allied.  VHs in England will be third country.  The map was designed originally for BoB and in this case they present a nearly inpenetrable wall of "base under attack" early warning for the Allied defenders, so we're going to try to modify the dar settings to give the Axis some coverage holes to exploit.  This also reduces the amount of friendly ACK defenders can hide behind; VH ack will attack everyone.
2. Visibility is roughly half a sector.  We're also adding ground winds just to see what effect this has (other than making level bombing a bit more challenging).

All squad COs need to request sides and check participation levels.  I'll have side assignments and orders out by Monday if everyone gets signed up this weekend.

Will sides be divided equally (50%/50%)?

Request your side here and also update your numbers if need be.

Please note the Squad Ops event is not up yet, it still shows Mindanao, but that does not matter when it comes to requesting sides or changing your numbers.
