I Challenge YOU!
« on: March 03, 2005, 03:59:03 PM »
Ok, Im ready to buy/build a new system, but as most everyone, I am on a very tight budget. I cannot spend more than $750.

I've found a few computers at dell's outlet that are well within the budget, but the video card is crappy (128MB Radeon X300 PCI).

Here are the minimum system requirements:

1GB RAM
120GB SATA  HD
256MB Video Card
3.0Ghz (or AMD equivalent) processor.

I'd like to buy a mboard that would allow me to upgrade the chip within the next 6 mos or a year so that I dont have to do a complete overhaul again. Any guidance/help you guys/gals can offer would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Do you have anything salvageable, or do you have to buy everything?

I can salvage power supply no problem. Case ... I dunno. Are there issues associated with mboards fitting in cases? Its a standard case I believe, mboard in it now is Asus P4T-E. Power Supply is 300W.

Yeah, the case should be fine.  I like Newegg.com.  They generally have good prices, and quick shipping...plus, they have a nice system of letting you know what's happening with your order, and when it is shipping.

If you go to an AMD, you're going to need more power, I think.

I'd get more power even if you don't.  300 is kinda weak.

Try these guys

cyberpowersystem

They have a very nice website that you can customise a system with. Good service, warantee and you can almost have them build one for the price you can order the parts and do it yourself.
