Be glad I'm not and if you ask if I care....nope.

I know who both of them are. The first one used the exact same wording as he used in the game while talking to me there. The second one isnt hard to figure out either from his many posts in the OClub.

I respect Hondo for coming in here without making a shades account.

The other 2 still have time to delete their posts, I'm not sure if they can delete the names they used here in this thread though.

Hang in there Elfie!!

I've seen more of this kind of bs than most of you. I get a LOT of the 14 yr old "Bad boy" 2 week trialers. They are new to the net, they are ohhh so secure in their distance. And they are OHHH so bound to be bad cause nobody can do nothing to stop them.

There are lots of names, and lots of varients out there.

If they are coming up with bad ones you know they are LOOKING for trouble.

To that I have 2 words to say.

GROW UP

An old squadmate of mine used the name 'Phoq' for a long time, it caused such an uproar at that time that it threatened to have him banned. I guess that is mild in comparison.  :)

I hate to say this, but an improvement in the community would do wonders but it has to start from where they 'subscribe'. If we had volunteer trainers to show the new players the right attitude, it would do wonders. Currently, training is disorganized and (imho) not really encouraged.

Hiyas Deli!

Ok, I've seen you show up the last couple of days in the TA. But, when I was there you were AFK from the tower. Be that as it may.....

The Trainers DO look at everyone new to the game that shows in the TA. Unfortunately you will see some guy that gets on as a 2 week wonder and never logs into the game but plays H2H. Then after a year goes by they decide to "come aboard" and see what they can do. That is when the "call sign" gets recognized. And....they never made a trip through the TA. Lame call signs out there? Yes!

So, in answer to your statement, the trainers already teach new folks about life in the game. But, we don't see every soul that enters the game. Only those that make a pass through the TA.

They also learn they are a held responsible for their actions while in the TA. Unlike peer pressure that may or may not work in the other arenas. By the same token we are not their momma's and pappa's (nor babysitters) and with the numbers of newbys that show up daily there is not alot of time to mess with some guy that gets up saying F U to everyone in the arena. Normally some new person that comes through the TA for a stint of training leave and moves to the other arenas to become another member of this great community and share in the fun we are all having. As they gain more experience they even contribute their newly gained knowledge to other newby's just entering the game.

We DO report call signs that are inappropriate to Skuzzy and he DOES handle it.

Some slips through as you an see from a couple on this thread.

Bro!!!

One of the problems is people have to select their ID before they can ever come into contact with trainers, or anybody else in the arena. A clear policy on the sign-up screen is the first step to keeping people straight.

I would also submit that most, if not all, of the players who choose these types of ID's already know they are unacceptable and, as Ghosth pointed out, are using the anonymity of the internet to impress themselves.

A helpful feature would be to allow people to change their ID without losing their 2 free weeks. As it is now, I believe if they try to sign up with a different name, they lose whatever part of the 2 weeks is left. (I could be wrong about this).

SB at least, is not a new player, just a new name. He should have known already that his name was unacceptable. It's my guess that he did since he tryed to tell me in game that *Skuzzy is fine with it*. I figured that was a bunch of crap as soon as he said it.

A clear, naming policy on the sign up screen is not a bad idea. Most multi-player online games do have some sort of naming policy in place.

After leaving the game for the summer a couple years ago, I signed up again and since Magoo was taken (by me from before) I needed something to use for the moment. After many failed tries at a name that was not already in use I typed in "Christ" thinking it wouldn't take...it did take and off I flew! Some of those bad names are out of frustration - maybe 1/3 of them, the rest are indeed Schmucks who hide behind the internet.

I flew as Christ for a few weeks and really never got any grief from anyone about the name, much to my surprise. It made for some interesting exchanges on the radio buffer. Finally, I decided that my flying wasn't doing justice to the name and requested (and recieved) Magoo.

ummm...Magoo

Yes, I agree..been seeing a few of undesireable names.  You named two of the three that get me upset.  Not for me so much as my 12 y.o. son who also plays this game.  Skuzzy will get an e-mail about another
name from me.
