Stick mapping problem
« on: June 13, 2001, 10:02:00 AM »
MS Sidewinder PP FF (earler version of 2). WinME - stick works everywhere else perfectly.

Same as a few people in here, troubles with AH setup recognising all the buttons, including the trigger.

Before setting up a profile, I need to get AH to identify the button presses, but no go after lots of work - I'm not a tourist  :)

Calibrates ok, can't see any check-buttons in calibration, and I'm pressing them all - along with moving the 3 axes around.

Please help me and Jack Lemmon someone, for Crimminy's sake...  :)

Silly question for ya but do you the absolute current drivers for the stick?

I had an old sidewinder that I had to retire that was still a good stick when I upgraded to my faster machine.  My problem was in windows also instead of AH only.

The other thing is are you trying to profile in the MS software or use the ingame jstick mapper?   Personally I prefer the in game one and MS profiler before flying.  The ingame is just as configureable and with 4 stick sets possible you can set up seperate fighter/bomber setups and just press a key to switch back and forth.

I have a sidewinder 3d pro that doesn't have all the buttons working when using the sidewinder program.  Even with the lastest patch.  Some people get it to work other don't, flip a coin  lol.

If I set it up as a CH Flight Pro I can use all the buttons (#1,2,3 and 4)except for the lower 4 (#5,6,7 and 8).  My hat works fine same as the throttle.

Another question for ya guys.
Pull up the clipboard.  Goto Setup.  Then goto the Joystick area.  Click Select Joystick.
What is listed there?  Is it showing the correct joystick?  If not what is showing there?
Just throwing out more ideas to try   :)

Thanks Rocket - yep, everything looks ok, correct stick. Calibration panel doesn't give feedback on the axes and buttons though, which would be nice...  :)

Going to try some things, maybe try USB connection and a few others

Not too bad now as I've managed to get around most of the problems with some more work - again, thanks for helping!

Hmmm - just remembered that the latest patch added FF (mine's FF) - maybe I'll try an earlier version of AH for testing
