Carrier Group Control idea

When a fleet is under attack, it seems like it's a slow process to change course.  How about adding fleet control keys for abrupt course changes to avoid buffs.  1 key each for hard right, hard left and straight ahead.

I like this. Add to the equation how difficult it can be to remap a course if you happen to be engaged while in command of a group, fighting panic to get a new course input, only to get the 'waypoint touches land' and watch your boat go sinky sinky.

Pretty good idea Gloves.
Of course it might confuse the waypoint artists. :rofl

How about an option to merge fleets & let them function as a single battlegroup? That'd be nifty. You could get 2 or 3 carriers dispersed in a group, and have insane AA density. Would do a reasonable job of limiting suicide noobs.

It would be nice, changing course is changing course, but under attack while at General Quarters the fleet should automaticly take evasive action, a zig zag course at least without someone haveing to initiate the action.  perhaps options to do either a race track or figure 8 when under attack.

What I have found troubling is when a ranking player takes control of a fleet with no intension of staying and conning the attack, loses interest and leaves the fight but does not release the fleet.  leaving other players with no options when the fleet comes under attack.

Just after the carrier is sunk you get the "oh, dam, sorry, I had a phone call".   Some degree of AI assoicated with the battle group would make the game much more interesting.

I'd like to see AI aircraft associated with CAPing airfields and battle groups.  I remember Air Warrior and it mixed live player with AI aircraft in a very effective way.  Made the game a lot of fun.

if the person who had "command" of the fleet had to sit in the pilot house as long as they had command, you could make the CV respond to stick inputs in some way.

or maybe while in "command" they could for a short time go into the pilot house and do this.
I don't know what to put here yet.

I disagree completely, that CV turns like a PT boat.

Rino,

I think you might have read something into a request that was never made, I didn't see where anyone asked that the CV group respond like a PT BOAT.  the shear gross tonage of the fleet prohibits that from happening.  What I hear people asking is another way to input heading changes besides using the plotting board.  all ships in the fleet would still keep station.

Traveler,

That's exactly what I'm asking for.  Good understanding on your part.
