Sound related issues

I have an A7V8X-mx-se  board with an Audigy sound card.Atholon 2400+ XP chip.  My issue isnt just in AH its all across the board. When I start the comp theres no sound.If I click on the sound icon on the taskbar and click the slider a few times,it starts working till Im doing something not sound related.Then its like it hibernates till I use something with sound.It doesnt start right back up,it takes about 7 to 10 seconds.Im baffeled.Ive tried both a SB Live and the Audigy card so I dont think its the Sound cards.Possably board related.The onboard sound is dissabled and I think it did the same thing with no sound card.Cant remember if I checked that but Im fairly sure I did.Any ideas??

Doc....dump the Audigy.  They don't work with Via chipsets.

I had problem (same) with new Audigy2 ZS.....put back the old SB Live 5.1 and ran perfect ever since.

The 5.1 did it too Hajo.Im kinda thinking maby the board might have an issue.Im going to try the onboard sound again tomorrow.

I'm currently running an audigy 2zs on an ASUS A8V del. mb.
This has the VIA KT800 chipset.  No problems.

Just install it in the pci slot furthest away from the video card and ONLY load the drivers for the card. Omit the other extras that the card comes with.  Check Creative's website for driver updates, if you're not sure which one to use, give them a call. You actually can speak to a real person there.
