Must be a Firewall Problem
« on: March 07, 2005, 08:40:21 AM »
OK ... I'm still having VOX problems ... no transmit .. no receive.

The only thing I can put my finger on is that is must be a firewall problem.

VOX works fine ... offline... receive  ... transmit ... record on films ... etc. ... everything works great.

I go online and get nothing ... game sounds yes ... vox no. No transmit or receive.

Also ... when I PING an arena ... I receive no packets ... 4 sent .. 0 recieved ... 4 lost.   ????

I disable the firewall and Antivirus  (Norton Internet Security 2005) ... I turn it all off ... but still somethings not right. Is it still running in the background ??? I'm running XP Pro  but not the windows firewall.

It's probably something simple .... but I'm lost.

I feel like I'm missing half of the game play without at least hearing the vox talk.

any help would be appreciated.

It has been stated before in previous threads, just turning off a firewall or A/V doesnt always remove every trace of it from your OS.  It's still there.  Sort of.  Try disabling them from your startup, and reboot.  Then see if you still have the online vox problem.  If your firewall and A/V never start, and you still have a problem, then its more than that.  If it works, then you answered your question.

I use this app to turn  almost EVERYTHING off temporarily.  It turns it all back on when I exit the game.
