anybody else on C-PAP?

I had Sleep Apnea and used the mask for about a week and decided I would rather have the surgery.

I had the surgery about 5 years ago and have slept soundly every night since.
I have been reborn a new man!

Notice I never said a better man.

My wife`s Dr. told her that people do not die from sleep apnea.
When she asked him what about the heart attacks and strokes caused from blood pressure, etc he said that that is a result of the apnea, not the cause of death. Sheeesh, talk about your dancing around with definitions.

We all use the mask but I've been considering trying the pillows.  I'm kinda curious to know if anyone here likes the pillows better.

I'd guess you could add a humidifier. Its a seperate component in my rig (Respironics REMstar).

I'm curious to hear what people say about the pillows, too, they sure look more comfy.

How many of you guys are overweight?

I lost 70lbs since late October and I notice I sleep a lot better.

I dont mean to offend anyone with that but weight is one of the huge factors noramlly associated with this condition.

While this is typical, it's not always the case.  I've had apnea since I was a teenager and weighed 135 lb.  My uncle has a bad case of it and he almost looks anorexic.

Somebody needs to go back through and read the whole thread.  Especially the posts by the particularly brilliant members of this forum. ;)

Not sure.  My doctor didn't specify.  I could probably have it corrected with surgery but I'd rather just use the C-Pap.

I can confirm.

I lost about 40 pounds last year by cutting carbs, getting myself to within 10-15 pounds of my target weight (I am 6'3" and feel best at 210-215) but that was while my job description included a lot of walking and a little weight lifting.

My sleep problem improved significantly.

Now I'm promoted to deskdriver for the last 6 months, my bellybutton is back to 265....and the sleep thing got bad enough I had to do something about it.

HI my name is Gunslinger..,

Hi "Gunslinger!!!!"

I have been on the Mask for over a year now.
Since I have been on the Mask (Bipap) I have awoken to a new World where my wife no longer B*tches about my snoring.......
I no longer have to Freebase Expresso just to be able to drive
my car without falling asleep at the wheel. It is like a light has
been turned on in my life.

Sleep apnea study, $20.00 copay...

Living life with a less b*tchy-sleep deprived do to your snoring wife and almost crashing your car on the way to the job you almost lost for falling asleep at your desk.....

I tried the C-Pap for about three nights. However there is something about a being a claustrophobic with near constant insomnia that is only briefly interrupted by intense nightmares that kept it from working. As such, I would rip it off and throw it across the room as soon as I fell asleep.

Had the throat surgery, it helped some, but changed the tone of my belches.
My password at work had to contain exactly 8 characters I chose Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

From my mom and Dad of course. :)

There are several of us "Gunslingers" around. I have used the
handle since Airwarrior on AOL. We both registered on the  BBS
the same month with the handle.

I changed my ID in the game to "SKGslngr" to reflect squad
afffiliation and to help avoid the confusion.

I dont think anyone will confuse the two of us.

You are the Jarhead Gunslinger
I am the  Former Army Guard Avaition Gunslngr.
See, completley different.
