"No one can control the internet golbally, only locally."

unfortunatly, its just as hard to police the internet...maybe the next time some ****head creates a virus, he'll set it to target sites that shouldent be up in the first place...

HOW can you control something that doesnt really have a physical location or body?

How bout we hand over the breathing of AIR to the UN.  They can pass resolution after resolution to help sifle the Americans over breathing of Air with our sports and jogging and such.

BAH!  this is just down right scary when you think about it.  The one world govt wanting control over all electronic traffic and such.

1. By having a deal between majority of the countries/biggest countries, which closes out all other countries, which do not agree with the deal.
Those countries would be isolated outside of the internet. Sure they can have their "internet", but you couldn't access much anything outside the country, unless you have an another country aside you, which is outside of the deal. Just too bad if you're in a place like switzerland and the bordering countries are in the deal while yours is not.
Chances of success for this kind of a deal are quite low.

2. Stop bad mouthing the UN, it was only the chinese suggesting this. Most likely other member countries will ignore it as an impossible thought.
This is again one of those overrated UN bashing threads.
Why not to bash the US government because some of the congress members are trying to oust the pron and violent games from the net and computers?
Just as pointless.. stick to the facts, fault the responsible organizations instead.

Because chinese controls the internet usage of their citizens and don't see whats wrong with it, if they think that rest of the world should too.
They're also a superpower, which naturally doesn't want an another superpower to have too much monopoly over the internet activities.

Mind that the US government has also wanted to have better control over the content in the internet by signing deals with the other countries to help prosecute criminals and to close down sites with bad stuff.

1.  ummmm again how can you control the internet.  You can get it via hardlines OR satilite there's not too many ways a country can get "SHUT OFF"

But besides that what can the UN do to prevent this from happening?  NOTHING cause you CANT CONTROL THE INTERNET

2.  I'm not bashing the UN I just do not trust them.  Giving a "one world body" control over all types of communications and band width is crazy.  If my govt wants to ban child pornography or video games that are too violent/mature for kids from kids than that should be MY country's business and not the bloddy UNs

If China wants to keep their populace from seeing outside it's borders or N. Korea wants to keep up its public propaganda machine so its citizens are inept to history and the ways of the world that by all means that's THEIR business.

YOU CANT CONTROL THE INTERNET ITS NOT MEANT NOR ABLE TO BE CONTROLLED.

I'm not sure what facts you are referring to.  If I don't like the UN or its agenda that's my business.  My post wasnt based on that its based on this little thing we like to call REALITY!
