Profound Literary Quote
« on: March 05, 2005, 10:13:55 AM »
This bulletin board resonates with prestigious literary quotes, but I'm having trouble verifying the source for one of my favorites.

Can any of you pinpoint where this comes from?

"... it's just the hairy end of a wet gut."

Not exact, but close, and I forget the context except I think it's a veteran giving advice to a younger troop.

I thought it was from Catch-22, but after skimming the entire text on line, still can't find it.  Doesn't show up in Google either.

Then thought it might be from God's Little Acre, but although that has some gems of its own, I don't think this is one of them.

Can't add it to my sig block until I confirm the source.

How about it?  What is the source?
