Why do we even have it

Has anyone ever found a use for this sound?

not to mention it STILL sounds more like its saying "ace under attack"

:rofl
First time i heard that,i honestly thought it was someone important,"Ace under attack" well heck, whats you location..:rofl

But i agree,it should be more of a Air raid siren and maybe a voice stating direction of attack from the tower

Used to mean something when there was only a dozen or so bases on your side.  Now with so many bases, you can't see which one just started flashing anyway...

I used to think that there were two different messages:
"Ace under attack"   and "Base under attack"
I thought that "ace" was yourself and meant aircraft approaching you, and that "base" meant that a/c were approaching the base you'd taken off from.
I don't know how many times when I first started that I'd be cruizin' around and hear what I thought was "ACE UNDER ATTACK" and start turning right and left looking for the enemy aircraft.
But, since I switched to Mitsu's soundpack, I'd forgotten about that.  Now, IIRC, it's been replaced by "scramble, scramble!!"

using mitsu's "scramble, scramble, enemies inbound" sounds authentic, and adds to immersion IMHO ; )
I don't know what to put here yet.

Good would be a line in the text buffer stating which base is under attack.
