The F15 looks much better with a P38

both 2 engines and 2 rudders

both more allround planes.

both are hvy fighters

although the F15 is faster the F16 is more the cousin of the Mustang.

Its lightweigt and easier to build (cheaper)

any pictures??

I think as far as jets go...my all time favorite shape has to be the F4 Phantom. Its nose shape, twin intakes, cool wingtips, and angular elevators really make it look great.

The Phantom may look great, but it's a turkey. Each little angle is a countermeasure for bad flight characteristics.

It's heavy, it can't roll worth crap, its turn rate leaves a lot to be desired, and it's just a bit too big. It may look nice, but it's not what you'd wanna fly.

The Phantom is the P-47 of the Jet age.  Some folks like
Fruda can't appreciate that.

Two years ago in Tucson I saw an F15, P51 and P47 doing formation flying for about an hour together one afternoon I was on the golf course.  I could hardly hit shot I was so jacked up  :D

Phantom looks like it simply means business, rough rugged business, time and time again. No fancy schmancy curvatures like the sexeh F-16 or F-15, no trashy "use once and throw away" looks like the Mig 17/19/21.

As for being a turkey, the F-4s over Vietnam and the Middle East proved to be better at almost everything then the Migs they faced at the time. Technologicaly advanced, they could shoot down the Migs before they even caught a view of their dirty exhaust. Even when this advantage was negated by strict rules of engagement over Vietnam, some pilots like "Duke" Cunningham could make the Phantom dance toe to toe with the Mig-17 even in the low speed regime.

The Phantom is the ultimate energy fighter of the 60's & 70's jet age, like the P-47 was in WW2. No other fighter could match its combination of advanced avionics, superb performance, and multirole capability.
