maybe reduce the effective range on the 88's for manned puffy ack to icon range (6k), seeing as a 88 ain't a 5" anyway (3.1"  I think it is)
I do think we need someting to counteract the "Hoard/noe-buff" mentality that has become rampant in this game.

Yea john, but that can be countered by SA. You can see the other plane and fight back against it. There's nothing worse than having a CV group on the horizon and suddenly they decide to bracket you even though there are many more cons closer around it. Then the lamer manning the lazer 5" guns decides he has to fire at the single spit about 5k away flying away from CV instead of the dive bombing lancs 1k out. Why would he do this? Because I had just shot him down and he wanted revenge. The way puffy ack is modeled is outta hand in my opinion. Being able to hit a single spit manuvering to avoid it at 5k away is a little ridicluos. I get hit by the unmanned puffy from time to time and I get a little POed about it but I can handle it. I hate however, that some little whiner who gets shot down can jump into a gun and just come close to hittin a little fighter and get a kill. I'd say no to mannable puffy at feilds for this exact reason. Some guy would get killed in a fair fight, then hop into puffy ack and blast away at a plane 3-5k away. If it wasn't so lazer accurate then I would support it. In short, people would abuse it and not use it for it's intended purpose. I could understand it hitting a bomber formation flyin level and slow. But as it is, knocking down fighters in dives and manuevering in dogfights, it would turn more into a WW1 game with a giant no mans land. Just my opinion.

Disclaimer: I'm not accusing anyone who supports this thread to be a lamer who hides in ack. I'm simple stating that the above scenario has happened to me several times and it's lame.

Distance between bases on small maps?  about 15 - 20k?

That means, some tard in puffy ack gun in one base shooting into a furball spoiling the fight, and some tard in the opposing base shooting into a furball spoiling a fight, 5" gunners piss everyone off apart from a very small gap in the middle between the bases.

I'd love to hear the squeel as I repeatedly sniped you with my l337 5" haxxor skeeeelz.

I say yes and make them like they were in real life. That means no proxy fuses like the 5"ers. In a 88mm you make it set off at a certain alt.

Anti Air is impartial, it kills either party and doesn't play favorites and to enable the kill shooter function for the AA/AAA is gaming it, if you want to furball, then stay away from the fields and battle groups and you might stay in the air longer.

If I am flying near a field or battle group, I am not surprised that I am being shot at by AA/AAA and if I get splashed because I loitered around in a furball, then it is no ones fault but my own and I am not going to demand a change because of my flying habits, put me at risk from ground fire.

Just my take on it.:D

Player controlled ack does no damage to friendly planes...
So either make it do damage to friendlies or enable killshooter.  I say enable killshooter to make it consistent with the settings on planes.

One other thing....if your gun gets shot out from under you, you should suffer a death just like a gv or plane.

The current settings are what's gamey....no risk at all, just sit in the gun and fire away.  If you hit a friendly or get your gun position shot away there are zero consequences.

I say no, don't man the Flak, the game would be greatly reduced in fun if you try and bomb the base from 20k alt, and you get shot by one of those darn clouds...(which happens all too much)

Here's the solution:

Make the puffy ack fully manable, but not AI controlled.

I'd be happy if they just doubled the amount of auto puffy ack.
Or maybe ever tripled it.

And no im not joking

I also dont think tracers should ever be off in manned ack.

BTW none of the ack is "manned". Mannable or otherwise.

Least I've never seen anyone sitting in the gunners chair.
