I thought the LW rockets didn't do you any good in ground attack missions?  They were air to air rockets with a flak warhead and timed fuse?  Or am I mistaken...

My top 4 votes would be the '38L, Chog,110G, and the D-40.

C-Hog, best all around attack plane in the game.

P-38, excellent if you need to climb to the enemy base.

110-G2, 6 gun package is incredable, excellent against the town and gv's.

P47-D40, great attack plane, only annoyance is MG's don't work very well on AAA.

Typhie is great for NOE attack missions. Slight less ammo and ord than previously mentioned planes.

IL-2 is a terror for vehicles.

Chog and P-38L.

IMO the Chog comes upperhand because of the quad-20mms.

Depends on the target i would imagine. In my LW sqaud, when we attack a base we usually are comprised of 110s and F8s.

While the choice of the 110 is no mystery, a little known fact and no longer a secret is the Fw190F8s capabilities. It can carry a little over 1500 lbs of ord, has 780 13mm MGs and 500 20mm cannons.
It is one tough bird. I have taken numerous FG hits without damage and recall getting a facewash from a flakpanzer only to lose my left cowl gun ( the flakpansie wasn't so lucky :) ).
The F8 then makes for a very good fighter/suppression AC. It's a bit clumsy when slow (its a tank for goodness sake) but kept up to speed, it can handle anything the enemy tries to throw at it in defense of the field.
All in all, the F8 is not an uber attacker like many of the Allied ACs, but makes for a great compliment to any attack mission.

Thunderbolt all the way here :)

Fast, tough, heavy and a big bombload :)

Drop the bombs, climb up and find yourself in a very fearsome fighter!

Though the other attackers are good too, just go for the one you like (They all undoubtly get your job done)

Agree 100%.  I flew the F8 for half a tour once just to get acquainted with how it handles so I could actually be halfway useful once the bombs were gone.  Although I have to say it is a bit more difficult getting the bombs centered on target than the american birds.  Plus its frustrating that it doesnt quite have enough ord. to take down a hanger on its own (which is BS IMO, the F8 had a much wider range of ord. than what we have to choose from, but we live with what we have).  Still not a bad choice for base suppression missions, esp. if you can hold your bombs in reserve to back up someone else.

In P-51's and P-47's, I usually load the 100lbs bombs, so I can still fight with them on (if I plan to use them later)
When it's getting hot I would drop them though :)
