km/h?  Being an american, I can only assume you've invented a fanciful unit of measurement that means nothing.

I demand you give the performance data in a universal standard, like:  "This car can travel at (number) hogshead to the furlong" or "my automobile performs at (number) hectoliters to the cubit".

It's 241mph

But frankly I won't really care utill the supercars hit 300mph because the new BMW M5 sport sedan can do 205mph when the electronic limiter is disabled...

was it either the diablo or the ferrari (forgot which model) did 222, and that was the previous record?

i thought maybe the enzo did 231 but it's not a true "production" car

An Enzo will do 238, with 349 produced (one of those total'd here in Houston. *do not turn off TC!*). The Koenigsegg CCR isn't exactly a true "production" car either.  They only made around 40 iirc, like the Pagani Zonda. Neither of them hit the terrifying 252.3mph of the Bugatti 16/4 Veyron.

Really, the "production" label is a misnomer. The only car in this price range that should qualify if the Carerra GT. It's the only one being made in any signifigant numbers.

But you know as well as I that after a certain point the car/powerplant has little to do with top speed achieved by any given LAND based vehicle.

Ive been behind the wheel going 140 mph plus in my 1970 Duster. I let off because of the front bias ply tires were only rated for 90 mph....the engine coulda and woulda, but for..i dunno living's sake I pulled my foot out. (2.33:1 gears at that point)

180 mph on a 2001 Honda ST1100. This time it was the road. Even the smallest bump feels like a kick to the arse at that speed. Hit one of those little tar strips to repair winter cracks in the road and the front end went squirrel....

Plus it wasnt even my bike...so i pulled my hand out. Again the vehicle had lots left...but the non-vehicle conditions almost always outweigh the actual limitations as far as HP, Power to weight, etc.

300 mph outta a production car would be fine...on a perfect road, in perfect weather,,with a perfect driver....

I have never seen those 3 things happen at the same time.

"100 cars are required to be bought and sold to private owners to be considered a production car"

They haven't sold any.  So this 2005 Koenigsegg CCR cannot claim the title yet.

Personally, I can think of one car that hasn't been mentioned that can top this speed.

The Calloway Sledgehammer.   In 1988 this was an 880HP vette, it reached an official speed of 254.7mph (409.9kph).   This was in 88.  It is the fastest Street Legal car.

The Lotus Carlton still holds the record of fastest sedan (it was a four door on top of it) at 177mph, production of over 900 units ceased in 1992.

And before you start drooling over the Koenigsegg CCR, remember that DCX has already made plans to produce the Chrysler M12.  It is said to at least go up to 252 mph.

If it only takes 100 units to be considered a "production" car, then you could basically consider an F-1 racecar to be "in production".
