Something that really irritates me

With small or medium maps everything works ok, 60-75 fps.
With large maps, while "seeing" the same as in small maps, fps drops to 45 or less.
With clipboard open, fps drops by even 20.

Just a proposal, when you takeoff, drop (erase, delete, free) all the map except 6x6 surrounding sectors from your takeoff point, if you cross the limit, recreate again the 6x6 from the crossing point. While in tower, load the whole map. In GV, use only a 2x2 sectors.

Make sure you have all the options turned off you don't need Mando, all that extra junk on the clipboard eats FR like Fubar eats through a cake.

This is one of the reasons I keep calling for some kind of standard for system requirements for all maps. I think it's nuts that we have some weeks that my machine hums along like Lance Armstrong and other weeks where it labors like some slightly overweight, balding 40ish desk jockey trying to pedal his ancient 10-speed up a hill (don't ask where that analogy came from).
I like big maps,  but is there any way to make them more frame-rate friendly? Is it just a matter of more strats consuming resources or is it that big maps have lots of eye candy (like trees and houses covering mountaintops that no GV is ever going climb) that we can do without?

Following a tip i got in-game, I zoom my clipboard map as far in as is practical, which brought my FPS back up to the norm. On a large map with the standard info on (field icon, alt, name, camper spawns) and the clipboard zoomed out, FR would drop to mid 20s. Turn that off or zoom all the way in, high 40s-60 (monitor only likes 60hz refresh anyway). While limiting map info to a few sectors sounds good (and easy), I think if you suddenly flew into a heavily populated furball outside your original map area, you'd prolly really take a hit as the map tried to draw everything in addition to what you'd then be seeing on screen. just a thought.

So you guys who get 60-50FPS have a really hard time operating at 40 or 30?  Wow,  I agree though as someone who only gets 40 on a REALLY good day.  Big maps are absolute murder especially when flying around by smoke.
Who are you to wave your finger?
