Picked it up over the weekend and so far it's really good.

You have to think and act fast as squad leader to coordinate your fire team and assault team actions. It's easy to blow it and get everyone killed.

My only complaint so far is that on my system at least it takes forever to reload from a save checkpoint. So when you blow it, which is often, you pay a price in time.

I'm considering buying this title. I'd be interested to hear how would you compare the gameplay to MOH or COD (both of which are far different from each other IMO)?

No demo, just a 3MB patch and a trailer.

No doubt buy it, but I like SH3 much better so it's getting my game time instead. That and I'm enjoying Operation Flashpoint so much for  current FPS games.

I'm also not sure the squad control will be for everyone, isn't for me, and I was kinda thinking the Germans might have kevlar on as it takes a few shots to stop them. Hard to say, I'll play it more next weekend.

I haven't played MOH, but compared to COD, here's what I say:

COD is slightly more of a FPS in that you are told what to do, you go forth figuring out how to do it, there are some gotchas, but judicious saving will expidite discovery and there's basically a "right" way to accomplish objectives.

In Brothers you are told what your basic objective is, then you are put into a series of mini encounters with your squad (and early on your squad is you and a Cpl), and you decide how best to work through the mini encounter. There is also basically a "right" way of going about an encounter, but as you go along this way becomes less obvious and you kind of have to play out an encounter before you appreciate whether you picked the best option (you can't save a checkpoint just before turning a corner, e.g.). You are going to take casualties no matter what in cases. So "best way" becomes subjective.

The squad command thing is novel, and simple. You have a fire team and and assault team. You tell the fire team where to position themselves and where to direct suppressing fire. You tell the assault team where to move (usually a flanking move under some cover) and when and where to assault the target.

Cool, I've played most of the sub sims over the years but the best one (for its day) was 688 attack sub. I'll check into  SH3/

OK HIJACKERS WITH THIS SH3 crap..............enough already... this is a BIA  thread!

I like the game!  its not easy controling the stuff when the action is hot but man its intense!

I recomend this to the desk top generals out there who like to have some control of whats happening.

I was a little suprised to have my whole squad/group of 3 all get killed buy me and finishthe mission only to have them all reappear for the next one!

Granted im playing the easy mode to get the hang of it, but its still hard!

FUN   gets 5***** from me!
