The Pope says Terri Schiavo will suffer before she dies.

I am of the opinion that the Pope is just a normal man, like any other man. He has no more insight about life and death  than any other human.

Now if the Pope went to medical school and became a doctor and then examined Terri, maybe I'd give a damn what his opinion is on the matter.

Doctors have adopted roles historically occupied by religious types in our increasingly secular society. A few hundred years ago the Church would have pronounced her possessed most likely and cured her by drowning. A few hundred years in the future and who knows but at the moment we just bungle along trying to do whats best.
