Checkertails

I flew the p40 with the black checkertail skin by Octavius last night, and I was under the impression there were other birds that used the same color scheme.  I thought for sure there was a p47 which used it.  I think this has been asked before, but weren't there a few skins in progress to mimick these?  Just asking because I think they are really sharp looking.  What other WWII planes had paintjobs like these?

The 325th Flew P-40s at the start of the war, then they got P47s and then P-51s. The flew both the P-47s and P-51s in there three fighter squadrons. The 317th, 318th and the 319th.So you could see the yellow and black checkertails on all three of those types of aircraft. Currently in AH we have that paint on the P47D-11, P-51B, P-51D and the P-40E. I think the P-51B is Hellen #35, the D models are #77 "Belligerent Bets" and #00 "Double Nothin" As for the P-47D 11 it is number 66# It was piloted by  Lt. Sam E. Brown of the 318th fighter squadron. He scored two victorys in the aircraft. Plus one in a P-51. The P-40E skin we have was Col. Bob Baseler's P-40E it was named "Stud". I hope that helps.

Baseler also had a Jug named "Big Stud" with a *somewhat* similar scheme here:

Thats correct. That was his new ride after they phased out the P40-Es.

Baseler's silver Jug was one flown when he returned stateside and commanded a base down south.  It wasn't a combat bird.

Great, thanks for all of the info.  Wasn't someone skinning a black "big stud" p47 earlier?  I thought I remembered that skin and that is really what prompted this post.  The black with the red and the yellow checkering is NICE.  =)

The 325th colors are yellow and black. Not sure where the red comes in. Except on the P-40.
