Im curious, i think installing these counters in real life were time consuming and expensive (in 40's standards).

Running out of ammo and losing plane and pilot is a bit more expensive...BTW it was common for other nations to use different colored tracers on last belt to let pilot know he was at the end of his clip....

Yup a bit of a two edged sword. I know some pilots didnt use em at all and others varied how far from end they were placed.

The ammo counters are probably the cheapest instrument in the 109 and 190. It was a simple mechanical device.

Just those 2 LW Fighters IIRC.

Though some planes had the breeches of guns within the cockpit, I don't know if they could lean and look to see if bullets were still hanging from the breech?

All LW fighters (with a select few exceptions) had the counters.

If I had no ammo counters I'd use no tracers on the last belt.
