Port ACK way too strong...
« on: April 08, 2005, 12:23:54 AM »
I know its been said befor but port ack is way to hard to kill. I took a YAK-9T to a port tonight and used all 32 rounds of 37 mm on 1 gun and couldn't kill it.
On other land bases I usually use 1 or 2 rounds on them.  Also the YAK-9T also seems to have a counting probem with the 37mm  I fire once hear 1 pop and see 1 tracer and 2 or 3 rounds are gone.

The amount of sounds you hear depends on the quality of the sound pack you're using.

Port ack is just as hard/strong as any ack on the coding level. I have no idea what everyone's problem is...

I think the problem is not in the gun itself, its in the terrain under the gun.  People have complained numerous times that the effect we know of as "water" extends into the green stuff, and the effect we know of as "land" can extend into the blue sometimes.  The reason the cannon rounds take out ack so much more easily is becuase of the explosion.  Proximity is enough to take out an ack gun.  With MGs you have to actually hit it, so accuracy is important.  Well, if the "ground" acts like "water", there is no proximity explosion.  Therefore, no matter how big the bullet is, you have to hit it to do damage.

This is just a theory, but based on observations and other people's gripes.  I could be wrong.  Wouldnt be the first time.

Bug rePORT - heeh!

I have stopped attacking ports all together.  There is definitely a problem with something when you spend all you CANNON rounds on one pier ack to see another  pier ack explode and you get the "destroyed gun emplacement" message.  To add to my amusement, I get killed by the same pier gun that I just dumped all my rounds into.   That is just sad,  but made me laugh anyway:D.

I just thought that needed to be rePORTed

Ummm, no, he said it was a problem with BLAST RADIUS, that shows up MOSTLY at ports.

Shows up mostly on ports because those are the only objects rotated in the terrain editor.

I know thats like, six of one, half a dozen of the other, what difference does it make.  Just thought its important to keep in mind that the port itself is only part of the problem, you could have it show up elsewhere until the patch comes out.
