Update

We're in the final stages of 1.05.  We're finishing up the testing on it and making final changes for the release.  We're looking to put it out next week, barring any unexpected major problems.

We weren't planning on this, but circumstances make it necessary for us to modify our minimum requirements.  Video cards now need a minimum of 8MB video memory.  We apologize for the short notice of this change, and we hope that nobody will be adversely affected.  This change also means that you will no longer have to download the hi-res textures separately.  That file will no longer be needed and everything will be included in the base download or update.

When we release this version, it will only be available from our download webpage.  The auto-updater will not initially be enabled.  This is being done to keep all downloads offsite until we get past the initial rush and the huge bandwidth usage spike that comes with a big release.  Downloads should be a lot faster as well.

Happy Holidays from Dale, Ronni, John, Nate, JoAnn, and Doug.

A couple of addendums to get on your brain.

Anytime we add new key commands, the default keys only update if you haven't ever used the keymapper.  If you have ever remapped a key before, you will have to manually map any new key functions we add.  Your keymaps are stored in your settings directory as .kmp files.  These files are created whenever you remap a key.  If those files are present, they are used.  If those files are not present, the default keymapping is used.  You can delete those files if you want to use the default keys.

Example: There's a new key function for aircraft that raises/lowers the tailhook for those planes that have a tailhook.  The default key is <Shift G>.  If you've never remapped your keys, it will work without you having to do anything.  But if you've remapped your keys before, you'll have to go into the keymapper and assign a key to that function.

We don't have any perk planes in 1.05, but the perk system will be on and points will be accumulating.  Plane ratings will be set from the kill stats of the current tour and will be updated as stats change with different planes becoming more or less popular.  These ratings dictate how many perk points are awarded for kills based on the plane you are flying versus the plane you shoot down.  The ratio is your plane's rating divided by the rating of the plane you shoot down.  So if Plane A has a rating of 1 and Plane B has a rating of 4, Plane A would be awarded a quarter of a point for shooting down B while B would be awarded 4 points for shooting down A.  There is also a separate rating that deals with accumulating perk points through bombing and ground attack.
