Anyone catch the TCM aircraft movies?
« on: April 10, 2005, 08:48:49 AM »
Anyone watch these?
Divebomber, Ace Of Aces, etc.
I was a little amazed at the movie Divebomber. The color had been redone and there were some awesome old aircraft scenes.
Looked it up this morning and found out the plot was written  by Frank Wead.
Pretty cool for a movie done in 1941 with Fred MacMurray and Earl Flynn.

I think that that was the first time I saw that movie.  I can't
figure out what airplanes where.  I thought they were Douglas
TBD-1's, but the pilot's canopy was not right.  Any guesses.

Yea, that was Wings Of Eagles.
That`s what I was referring to with the " I gotta move that toe" comment.
Some of the older movies still rock.

Been awhile (decades, in fact) since I saw that film, but weren't they SBC Helldiver biplanes?

Both Helldiver models and the Dauntless were used I believe.
