The importance is not the look of the clouds from the distance, our clouds actually look pretty good now (from a distance).

What is badly needed is fog inside the clouds. First and formost to create loss of vision and second to get rid of the horrible pollygons that show. It really does look horrible when you see each and every polygon of the could.

Bug, you can have it like that... just go play that boxed sim ;)

In AH2 the playability should come first and eye-candy only after that... IMHO!

Adding fog inside clouds wouldnt hurt the fps levels, actually they would improve when inside the could due to extreamly short visibilty range and hence extreamly low number of objects rendered.

To tell the truth I think the AH2 clouds are very well done.  I love the double layer of stratus around 12-15K, and the cumulus clouds are superb at a distance.

Once inside them, the hard, straight line edges are noticeable, but if that's a necessary concession to DL size or frame rates I'm OK with it.

Bug you're right, they do look great.

But I feel that they need to do something about the trees killing frame rates before we add bigger better clouds to even further destroy what's little frame rates I've got left.

No offence to Hitech. The new patch and all the new effects look absolutely awsome. But with the new patch came horrible frame rates.

I guess trees aren't killing my framerate because they look like a cross between camo net and painted/folded cardboard. Do the trees look better to those who are having framerate problems around them? Yes, it is a serious question. The only real problem I have with trees is that every once in a while, one materializes rapidly in front of me when I'm on the deck and fast, and kills me (the legendary evil HO tree).
