open your map in the terrain editor.
Click File, make map
Then open the bmp created called map in a paint program (I suggest something other than MS Paint)
Create a new folder in your terrain folder called texsrc
Save the bmp you opened in the texsrc folder, make sure it is saved as 256 color (8 bmp).
also make sure when you save it in the texsrc folder it has the same name as your .oba file.

Any other textures/skins will also be placed in the texsrc folder, but they have to be saved as 256 color or they will not show up.

I would add that the final bmp size is 512 x 512, not 1024 x 1024 which is what I remember the "Make Map" function creating.
Easy in-game again.

The map size can be  anything from 512 up to 4096 or even larger. I recomend 2048 X 2048.

Don't make clipboard maps any bigger than 1024. Sure, maybe your vid card may handle bigger, but not everyone's will.

And that's the official HTC word on it, not just mine.

;) But it'll be helpfull when making a highly detailed terrain.  It's no problem to switch in a smaller clipboard later.

Oh, absolutely... if that's what you're using it for. :)
