Ta152 Question.
« on: April 17, 2005, 08:33:04 PM »
If the 190s were redone, why not the 152. Isnt it just a Dora with larger wings and diffrent guns? I went to try it out lastnight and was a little dissapointed to see the 152 not getting any love.:(

I'm no experten, but I think the 152 is quite a bit different than the 190s. I'm not too familiar with all of the changes that were made, but the 152 has alot of different flight characteristics. I think it was designed for very high alts and has a different engine or something of that nature. Those longer wings really mess with the roll and dive characteristics as well.  It's not a 190 to me, and definately not a Dora

For me at least, whatever advantages the 152 has over the 190s does not make up for all the disadvantages that it has comparing them. The 152 has a narrow band of application and is not well rounded enough for me to really appreciate it.  It is quite possible that I have been overlooking something in this plane, but so far, I find it to be very weak in the areas that I need. Those alts that it was made for are a bit thin, and so are the encouters up there.

Maybe the 152 had nothing to redo, as it is so different from the others, unless it is some visual aspect like the cockpit or something. I'll read up on those differences to see just how much 190 is actually left in the 152 other than just appearance, and I'm sure that some of the people in here know it inside and out, so I'll see if I can find some old threads on the subject.

Peace out and ride the boogie

The actual Ta 512 was very well rounded.  It could outturn anything in the ETO and was just as fast on the deck.

In short it was a very formidable design.

Currently the Ta 152 flight model in AH is seriously porked.  The plane is extremely unstable, especially in the yaw axis for some reason.  It's also been argued on this board quite persuasively that it's top speed is too low.  In AH1 it was an excellent match against P47s and P51s, even at slow speed.  I'm eagerly awaiting its FM revision.

So, what you guys are saying is that the real Ta152 was not near as poopy as the one in AH.  I hope they change it then. The way it is now, it's not much more than a freak.

Once the FM is fixed, it will definitely need to be perked. Our 152 is one hell of a nerf plane.

That's funny.  The tail extension helped with dive speed.
