There is a free app called "I Hate This Key" that will disable the windows key.

Unfortunately I actually LIKE the windows key when not gaming.  It's used as part of the hotkey shortcuts for most of the native components and functions in Windows (windows+e for Explorer, windows+r for Run, windows+l for FUS, etc).  It's very handy when I'm working and I need to navigate quickly.  Unfortunately it can also interfere with games.  So it would be nice if it were possible for AH and other games to block this key.

HITECH- Can we hear your opinion on this?

I have found myself in many a furball...heck, even RTB and trying to hit autopilot (X) and accidently hit the windows key ending with my demise.........

I understand I can easily pop the key out, but I do use the key when running other windows applications....and quit frankly, im not one to destroy a machine that i purchased with my money...

HTC would it be that difficult to disable to windows key in the next patch?

please give us some feedback

you guys don't know the worst of it.

AH auto-minimises for me about once every 20 mins or so.

and yes bailing out is A) a waste of time B) frustrating untill you remap it.
And I don't know much, but I do know this. With a golden heart comes a rebel fist.

I got 1 trigger and 3 buttons on my stick. I find I need them for fire pri, fire sec, select sec, and check 6. I got 4 more on the base and those are flaps up/down, damage, and brakes. No more buttons lol

A lot of us can't afford sticks like that. I'm content to use the keyboard, as I bet 90% of all other pilots are. I just wish HTC would implement WinKey trapping.

i find veiwing is easier and more "natural" with the keyboard, plus with the keyboard your thumb is free to press other buttons while your looking around...

Hear are some quick fixes for your troubles. You can run these before you play and them re-enable them.

To disable these keys save the following text to a file with the file names listed above the ---cut--- line
(Sorry for the line breaks, don't know why it does that. Each entry should be on one line.)

disable_left_windows_keys.reg
-----cut---
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Keyboard Layout]
"Scancode Map"=hex:00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,02,00,00,00,00,00,5B,E0,00,00,00,00
------cut-------

disable_right_windows_key.reg
------cut------
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Keyboard Layout]
"Scancode Map"=hex:00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,02,00,00,00,00,00,5C,E0,00,00,00,00
----cut----

disable_both_windows_keys.reg
---cut---
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Keyboard Layout]
"Scancode Map"=hex:00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,03,00,00,00,00,00,5B,E0,00,00,5C,E0,00,00,00,00
---cut---

remove_scancode_mappings.reg (restores your default setup)
----cut----
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Keyboard Layout]
"Scancode Map"=-
----cut----

Hope this is usefull.
