Today I watched the world change in my sons eyes.

The last post by Greg 'wmutt' Cook in this thread
sort of touches on what I feel as a father in this world.

Today the world changed and I watched someone very young appear to loose the innocence of his life.  I watched the tears of my son stream from his eyes and I felt that it was not in mourning for those that died.  Nor fear of what he saw but the realization even at his young age that his innocence was gone.

I may be reading more into what I saw than is really there but I will have to explain what happened.  His life has changed rapidly and dramatically from yesterday to today.  He went to bed last night thinking that today was going to be another day at kindergarten but soon after waking was thrust into a world I was not ready to show him.  I am going to have to explain my language from this morning that I normally never use.  I am going to have to attempt and tell him why those people did what they did.  Why they felt it necessary to attack a building filled with innocent people in a cowardly manner.

This morning we all watched, heard and read about the world changing.  This is a life impacting day not only for the people of New York city but for the nation.  Those of us here with children are going to have to do something that was done by our grandparents and great grandparents almost 60 years ago.  We are going to have to stand up for our nation and teach our children what it means to be real citizens of our nation.

I know some of you that read this are not religious but I am sharing this prayer I will say tonight and many nights from here on out.

"God grant me the strength to help my son become a better man and a leader among his peers."

Again I may be reading more into what I saw this morning but I feel that his life has changed forever.

Well said, Reschke.

I have to disagree on the scope. This is a day for a World to change. Unfortunately you U.S. citizes had been the worst biten. But not only your nation has been hit. I hope this can open some eyes, and see that we, all of us, are on the same boat in this issue. All the goodwill people are on your/our boat.

I'm not american, but I can only simpatyze, show my condolences, and hope your nation take a timely revenge. It will go on the benefit of all of us. You have my support. Pity I can't do anything else as an individual.  :(

well said, this is horrable for us U.S. because we are not used to this sort of thing. But these things go on everyday in other countrys. This is a HUGE eye opening for us and i hope because of this somthing good will come out of it.

My prayers are with everyone.
