190a8 had outboard DTs?

http://www.clubhyper.com/reference/fw190jb_1.htm

The guy seems to know his versions of the 190.

"There is some controversy about this aircraft. It was the equivalent of the A-8 and production did start, but is not clear how many were produced. What is clear is that to simplify production, the G-8 was cancelled and the A-8 was fitted with the "wet wing" equipment, center rack, etc. By this late stage of the war, the extra long range afforded by two wing tanks was not an operational requirement so it is rare to see them fitted."

So, who wants 2 wing-mounted DTs for the 190A-8!! I do!!! :)

They were there, even if rarely used!

I believe a "wet wing" setup is internal fuel tanks in the wings, not DT's.

What he is saying is that they made provisions for an internal fuel tank in both the wings.  This was done by structural modifications, which included an access panel, the reason they were rarely fitted is they added weight and were not needed because of the short range hops, so they were rarely installed, even though the structure existed to support them.
I regret doing business with TD Computer Systems.

No, "wet" wings also refers to the plumbing for DTs. He also mentions:

"As such it was fitted with "wet" point wings, i.e. they had fuel lines and systems so drop tanks could be carried on the outer wings. Quite often, in operational situations, you will not see these wing racks, but only the centerline ETC rack carrying a bomb. This was because the long-range capability was frequently not needed, so the equipment was removed to save weight and drag."

He's clearly talking about DTs on the wing mounts (about where the F-8 has bomb racks)

I say we should get them, but only when you are down to 7-8 bases and about to be reset, LOL :) :) :)

There are so many rutsatz kits that we don't have, we should start phasing some features in to the 190s. I think wing DTs for the 190A-8 would be nice. I'm not saying I'd use them all the time. But if you get wing tanks you could probably still take a ETC rack tank too, having 3 tanks for unparalleled range in 190s.

Anyways, I'd like to see 2xMG 151/20 pods under each wing of the 190. MUA-HA-HA-HAAA!!! That would be a sweet bomber buster.

Krusty, 190G8 and F8. More than probably, 190A8 never had the wet wings. I would say that is a typo in the G8 description.

He mentions that later planes all used a nearly universal wing, across versions. I don't see why they wouldn't put this modification in, if they were going to phase the G production into the A production.

They switched G production to F production (G8 to F8), not A.
