Connection
« on: April 24, 2005, 09:56:29 AM »
How much does connection affect frame rates? I have always been flyable with my slow dial-up but now my FR's are down a bit.I can get in the 30's with detail turned down, but a bit jerky in furball.
I'm running a P4 2ghz radeon 9200 512 RAM machine. I know that I couldn't even come close to playing WWII online with a slow connect. But I've been able to fly AH as I upgraded my system along with AH patches :)  I guess my question is if I was on high speed with the same sysem, how much would my FR's go up?
Not sure when DSL will be available in my area, if ever.

Love,

SKIDR:)

Might be the wrong place to ask....

I don't think you will find FR as too much of a function of your connect. It's more a function of a combination of your CPU speed, Video Card, Ram amount and speeds. You seem to have enough in that department. Then it's the settings you have set for the game. AH gives you a lot of leeway with fine tuning the in-game settings.

It can also be the drivers you are using for the game. Are you MB drivers up to date? What drivers are you using for the video card? Some vid drivers work fine while others may not.

My suggestion? Copy and paste the same thread to the "Technical Support" in the Help and Support Forums. I'd also read and search thru that forum. You may find many people with the same setup who've been helped there.

If nothing is found then I'd ask Skuzzy what you might do to fine tune your system for the best game play. He's the pro.

Hope this helps.
