Is it me or are there a lot of new people on now? Maybe it's because you can see their queries on the new help channel - but there seems to be a lot of them......has HTC got a tv ad running?

Yes.  I saw it a couple of times on the Military channel, I think it was last week.
I'm Casca and I approved this message.

Just wondering, can an explanation of the "help channel" be posted on the HTC website, or on the MOTD in the MA?  I have no problem helping new guys, if I did I wouldnt bother tuning to 6.  However, the newbs seem to think they are on a regular channel in the arenas and have no clue 6 transmits to all countries.  Ive seen guys giving out raid warnings, wtg's and other stuff and dont realize no one can hear them but the few people tuned.  They also seem to have the idea that those of us who tune to help them are somehow part of the deal and some of them get mad if you are in the middle of something and cant talk right then, or if nobody answers them (they think there is ALWAYS someone there, and he is just ignoring them; I had some guy jump all over me the other night wondering "where were you?" when I answered him a couple minutes after logging in).  I tried explaining how 6 worked the other night to one newb and he thought I was trying to brush him off by telling him how to switch channels.

I do think this was a good idea, and I really dont mind helping.  But somebody needs to give these guys a clue before they get into the arenas.

LOL Seems to be the going trend when you try to help someone new out now to either have your answer ignored while they are busy typing out the question again , to get some snappy comeback calling you a liar or the ever so popular "It`s better in CAPS" mode.
I have recently seen questions answered repeatedly, then have the person doing the asking get billigerent because nobody would answer them.
Had a newb ask about the beacon light the other day. When I explained it to him , he simply told me I was full of it and that that was a stupid answer. LOL
Just for the record, would you mind explaining how channel 6 works here on the boards.

Ad's been running for a quite a while on the MIL (old DSC Wing) channel. You can pretty much see it any time of day.
