Two huge orders for Boeing in two days.  Yesterday, Air Canada.  Today, Air India.

In response to today’s announcement by Air India, Boeing today released the following statement:

SEATTLE, April 26, 2005—Boeing is pleased that Air India has announced its intention to purchase five 777-200LR, 10 777-300ER, and 20 787-8 airplanes, with options to buy three additional 777-200LR Worldliners, five 777-300ERs, and seven 787-8 Dreamliners at a later date.

The only thing about Airbus that has bothered me these past few years is the leadership and how cocky they have been towards Boeing.  Hopefully the 777/787 combo and these past few orders will put some humility back into their behavior.  They sorely need it.

To the designers and builders at Airbus.  Nice work.

Yes, and that's a distance of more than 14,000km. I think the A340 variant they use has only 181 seats on that route.
