CH Products POV Hat Switch Problems
« on: April 21, 2005, 07:38:58 PM »
A second POV hat switch has failed on my USB Fighterstick.  Has anyone else had these kinds of problems?  I had the first replaced under warranty and figured that was a 1:100000 part failure.  Maybe I am just extremely unlucky.

This pretty well puts an end to my endorsing CH Products.  I will keep the stick and try to replace the switch.

Malta

ALL joysticks will eventually wear out and need replacement parts, more so if you use your stick as often most AH flyers do.

If you're that disgusted, you can guy the switches, pots and such for next to nothing and just replace them yourself.

Even if its not under warranty, they do the repairs for next to nothing anyway, and return the unit to you tech checked, cleaned and polished.

Try using a Wingman Extreme, I guarantee you'll be alot less happy than you could ever be with CH.

I just got off the phone with the sales dept at CH.  The 8 way POV hat switches are $2.00 each.  I ordered 4 since I seem to go through them.  While I am somewhat disappointed at the length of time the last switch lasted (4 Months), the customer service is really outstanding.

Being some who owns 2 MSFF sticks (both broken) and a MSFF2, I suppose I can admit to having two USB CH Fightersticks.  After the first one (that I am griping about) gave up its POV hat after almost 2 years and was returned for warranty repair, I bought another.  Both came from Provantage.com for what that's worth.

They fixed my viewhat on my pro throttle after the warrenty expired.

Installed a new POV hat switch.  They arrived yesterday.  I think CH sold them at cost.  I am somewhat impressed they have the parts and willingly sell them.

Replacing the switch was pretty easy, resoldering  the wires I tore wasn't.  Ah well, I'll know what not to do next time.  While it is annoying to have to replace yet another hat switch, it's not that big of a deal.
