Scoops

Well, lets talk about scoops now. Hurri had a belly scoop which had a back door. Wondered if Mustang team borrowed from the hurri design. Tony had a belly scoop as did Yak 3.

Question 1, was it really more aerodynamically efficient to put it under belly as oppsed to chin?

Mustang scoop was lowered to escape dirty boundary layer. Corsair & Yak had wing root scoops. Which look like best idea of the lot.

Spit scoops look worst. P-40 & Typhoon chin scoops likewise look very unaerodynamic.

Yes, I wonder if M Jacksons nose is more aerodynamic after redesign.

Frito-Lay made some awesome scoops.  They were best with chili n cheese.

I think we're talking about two different things on the Yak. The wing root scoops were for the Oil Coolers. I believe that all Yak-1-9 Models (1,3,7 and 9) retained the belly scoop for the radiator.

Ok, it really doesn't read like that in the first post. It seemed as though you were advocating the use of wing root scoops over the belly scoops.

It was confusing to me.
