Lazs let's just say I live in northern europe. I don't really want to go into further detail on that because of the BB wars.
Yes we're allowed to keep guns as I believe most europeans are UK people excluded. You need a carry permit naturally and a shooting club membership of some sort if you want to obtain some heavy iron. Rifles and shotguns are easyest to get by getting a hunting license with a written exam.
Basically it's enough to have a clean criminal record and enough age but it won't hurt to have a reason to buy them (sugh as hobby shooting or collecting weapons.)
Nevertheless my uncle is basically the only one in my near family who owns firearms. He shoots for a hobby. Some distant relatives own rifles, shotguns etc. but one is a police officer and couple others hunt.
None of my friends or close friends of family is known to own weapons or even desire to do so.
//edit: Now that I think of it my friends father has a .357 of some sort.
It's probably a bit of a culture thing too, guns never symbolized freedom down here. We have our army and law enforcement and that's just enough for most.
I've seen weapons mostly when visiting farmers and people living outside cities. Maybe the urban people consider guns a bit of a hillbilly treat.
