another rivet question....
« on: May 05, 2005, 07:13:20 PM »
anyone got a good resource of rivet lines and where they were in real life for planes? (190d in particular)

sry truekill, im just using the panel lines, and background, going for the rest myself

the reason i ask is i have a book (190d walkaround) with some VEYR close and detailed pics of a restored plane, and i have yet to see an actual rivet showing on the wing. even from 2 feet away. yes, some bolts, and a few right at the panel line edges show, maybe 1 every 5-6 inches, but nothing like what i have seen on the skins many here make

thanks

Always a problem. In real life you wouldn't see any rivet detail unless you were up real close.

Unfortuneately it's not what you see in real life but what you expect to see. Hence we have rivet details on the skins.

I just normally do a search on google to try and find 3d drawings and pics.
If you can find one showing spars, longerons etc you can make an educated guess at rivet placement.
