i cant seem to fly more than 5 mins without being discoed.

the otherday, i logged in, choose my plane, then was promptly discoed before i even rolled.

anyone else got this problem or is it just my end thats the problem.

i can post a ping plotter if needed.

any tips on why i disco so much, especialy in the GMT morning.
And I don't know much, but I do know this. With a golden heart comes a rebel fist.

I got disco'd 15 times within a 2 hour window last night. Variance was all over the map today, but not as bad as last night.

Ideas?

Variance is a measure of your computer's response time.  If iti s bouncing all over the place, it simply means the CPU is busy handling things other than Aces High.
Could be spyware/malware, DOS attacks (particularly if you have your firewall report every port scan/hit, which is a bad configuration), or excessive swapping.  Those would be the major candidates, but there are many others.

With no other programs running, open the Windows Task Manager and under the "Processes" tab watch the CPU (bottom center) for a minute.  In a normal system, it will switch from 0 to 2% at regular intervals.  If it is going higher than 2%, the some other software is using up CPU time which should not be running.

right on, thanks.

checked my system usage under normal conditions and it say 0-2%. mostly 0% with slight fluctuations every 20 seconds or so.

im on DSL.

just a thought, is it possible that AH sometimes represents 'internet at idle'. i know my PC auto-shuts down net connections if they are idle after 10 mins, even when i turn this feature off.

sounds harsh, but im glad others are getting the same problems, means its just a net issue, not my PC.

thanks for the response skuzzy.

I'm still hovering beteen 0 and 4 %. I'm on a wireless and I don't know if that would have an effect on it, but both the variance and plot below looked like they were straight off an EKG. I dunno what that means - but its the first time it was ever that bad.

I had problems Friday night, and some people were still having disco problems Saturday morning, but mine were b/c of my cable modem.  I had times where I couldnt ping out at all.  Reset the modem and my router, everything stabilized and its been fine since.

so how do i reset my modem?

its funny, even though i'm on DSL and clearly should not have these issues, i am finding increasingly that my modem discos itself even when im browsing the web.

its got so bad that even in the time it takes me to type this out, i will have to redial for connection to submit the reply.

wth is wrong with my PC?

Today everything was fine. Unplugged the Router and Modem for 5 minutes - though I don't think it had to do with the router since so many were having a similar problem of getting knocked off. Just glad it isn't happening today. Chalk it upto internet weather I guess.

Bat just unplug the modem and router (if you are using one) and let them sit for 30sec - 1min.  Plug em back in and let the modem and router lights stop flashing and settle down to normal, then turn on your PC.
