I wasnt talking about your movie.

Its close to being done. Tis the end of semester.. Or getting close. There is partying errr I mean studying to be done before we close yet another fine chapter here at uconn.

Im work/or trying to work on an actual real life film for Mars in his new baby. Shhhh hush hush. It should be a good one hehe. I have  yours, I have one for Loony which god knows what I'll do with it... They are all there, being worked on. I also have one from Levi entitled "Bling Bling" but thats got alot of CGI in it. Also the commercial for aces high, which probably will never be accepted but who knows.

Yours is next on the list.

I canned it all after I finished the movie.

You will have to check with Nath.

Hey morph, I have been wanting to learn more about making these types of movies.  Can you give me a basic walkthrough and tell me what programs you use and why?  I think I can do something like these with Studio 8, and a good digital camera running the movies through the video out on my video card, and recording on the camera, but this seems like the hard way to do it.

Regards.

The easiest way of going about it is to get yourself a copy of fraps. That records in .avi while your film viewer is running. What you see in the film viewer as far as picture and views go are what will be recorded into avi film. They can be very large files.

Once you have all your avi films, you can edit them and cut them in anyone of the movie editors out there. I have used Adobie premiere pro Sony vegas and also windows movie maker. Im now using Sony vegas 6 and its great, but its not cheap. But to me its well worth the money. So is premiere pro for that matter, its not cheap but its also alot more involved in some aspects where sony vegas is very straight forward. The stuff takes a bit of time but is also alot of fun.

If  you have any more questions you can email me any time.

Morph.

Thanks morph, I already have Studio 8, which I think is a better version of Windows Movie Maker, so I will give that a try first.  I will go looking for fraps now.

Does AH2 still support the movie viewer to view movies while AH2 is running?  I haven't used it in so long, I am not sure it is still there.  I like to be able to see exactly what the pilot is seeing sometimes, including partial plackouts on hard turns and such.  It gives a better feel for what is happening.  I will check when I get home tonight if you don't know.

You can no longer start the film viewer while AH2 is running.

You can thank the GV queens for that.

As for the film viewer it is a great program altho still very limited in what you can do with it and what it shows you. It does record a pilots views that are used while flying. It doesnt show black outs or partial black outs however. Thats good and bad.... Bad for a realistic look, but good for reviewing fights. ie.  you get an unobstructed view of whats going on at all times through out the fight. (the option to turn black outs on and off while in F/V would be nice.)

Fraps is cheap. You can download it for about 15 bucks or something like that at their website. fraps.com I think it is. Simple and easy to use.
