I asked for this before (many moons ago), but posting it again just in case I am catching HT on a good day:
It would be really nice to have definable and on-the-fly switchable graphic detail mode. The idea is that you could have some setting stored in a cfg file somewhere that with either a dot command or a single key stroke would change your primary graphic detail settings. That way you would not have to pull up the clip board to make changes that in RL would be equivalent to just "looking harder" or concentrating.
For instance (and these are only examples:
Mode 1: Air Superiority Settings - Minimal ground detail and details (size and distance) set to performance.
Mode 2: Ground Way - Ground detail set to maximum and details set about midway.
Mode 3: JABO - Ground detail set to about half-way (or just under), Size detail set to max, and Detail distance set to minimum.
(I have the slider names wrongs, but I am away from my home PC right now...you get the drift).
Of course, the modes would be customizable, but think how nice it would be to be able to make the appropriate changes from video mode to video mode, on the fly and in the heat of battle, without having to pull up the freakin(tm) clipboard. Would make it nice after a long flight to an enemy base to be able to switch over to "JABO" mode for the attack and then back out to "Air Superiority" with just a key stroke.
I like it! Not that that means anything...
