A young schoolboy was trying out for a school play. He earned a part and went home to tell his dad. He was really proud of him and asked: "What part did you get?

The son replied that he got the part of a man who had been married for 25 years.

His father congratulated him. Then he said: "That's good son, maybe next time you'll get a speaking role!"

Good luck Nilson.

Guess this isn't much help, but one saying that kinda stuck with me while I was growing up is this.  It's pretty much a general purpose saying.  May not apply to you here but:   If there's a doubt, don't do it.

You were together for 15 years.  That's an accomplishment I respect.  No matter what happens, you have already achieved more than most men.

Nilsen,

If you hurry up and get the marraige out of the way, you'll have plenty of time for the divorce.

Yeah I hear what you're saying Doobs, and I agree.  But a 15 year steady live-in deal is pretty much married isn't it?  It's just that I've heard of good things going sour after marriage for some folks in that arrangement.  Might be better in the long run not to get married if it promotes domestic tranquility.  Only the ones involved would know about it.  There are way too many divorces nowadays when things don't work out.

Perhaps you misunderstood me, but I think responsibility is very important, and certainly don't and never did suggest abandonment.

Now I am sorry for even saying something or responding to this thread.:)

you have a kid with her...and been with her for 15 years, it is already kind like being married.
I'd say what the hell, go for it man.

What are the tax implications?
